My name is Dr. Franz Josef Bock. I discovered my love for photography through the natural sciences. As a passionate amateur photographer, I love to capture special moments in a photo. My focus is on capturing the natural environment of our habitats photographically.

My genres are “landscape photography, macro and nature photography”. These subject areas repeatedly reveal to me the beauty but also the transience of our planet, so that I constantly become aware of what needs to be preserved in nature.
I used to take analog photos. There are obvious benefits to switching to digital photography, so I switched to this form of photography a few years ago.
I started with the Olympus PEN E-P5. Unfortunately, I lost this camera in an accident during a hiking tour in California.
A new purchase was pending. I decided to switch to full format. I was able to gain a lot of experience with the Sony A7 III. However, I put it aside at some point, perhaps because I didn't like the menu navigation over time.
Today I found my camera system that fully meets my expectations. I now take photos with the Canon R5 and I am impressed by the performance of this camera in combination with the RF lenses. I use various Canon L-series RF mount lenses for taking photos in the standard, telephoto, wide-angle and macro area as well as the filter holder NiSi V7 with diverse NiSi ND and GND filters.
I would like like to thank my dear wife Dorothe. For all the trips we have taken together and hopefully will take in the future, for all the moments in which she supported me with so much patience and understanding, for her active support in taking individual pictures under difficult conditions.

It's not just the beautiful pictures we capture together, but the many little things that make these trips so special—the conversations, the laughter, the discoveries we share. You make every trip unique, and without you, it wouldn't be half as wonderful.
About the photos
On my website I have posted photos that I took in different geographical locations. The focus of my travels is on the countries Canada, Alaska, Sri Lanka as well as Namibia and most of the countries in Western Europe. But I'm always on the road in Germany to capture interesting motifs with my camera.
The photos are intended to show the richness of nature in its diverse aesthetics in order to sensitize the sensory perception of transient things in the context of construction and destruction.
On the one hand, they represent the area that humans can directly perceive, the mesocosm. On the other hand, they show areas far from human perception, which can only be captured with the help of additional elements (e.g. macro lenses).
"Nature has presented man with two infinities, the immeasurably greatness and the nothing; she has presented them to him, not to understand them, but to admire them" (Blaise Pascal, 1623-1662).
With this in mind, I wish everyone who is looking at the photos a lot of fun and I would be happy if one or the other could be able to see the beauty of the nature and feel nature with all their senses.
