The wilderness has a very special appeal for me. It is the freedom that fascinates me in the vast, untouched landscapes.

In 2025, an exciting trip took me to Sri Lanka, which was primarily dedicated to wildlife photography. Until then, I had mainly practiced bird photography in Germany, but Sri Lanka promised a completely new experience. I was particularly fascinated by the enormous variety of bird species and the opportunity to observe and capture them in their natural habitat. Sri Lanka offers an incomparable mix of tropical climate and diverse habitats that attract both birds and other wildlife.

Although wildlife photography was the focus of my trip, landscape photography also had its place as a complementary goal. The island is known for its impressive landscapes – from lush rainforests to sprawling tea plantations to majestic mountain ranges. I was eager to capture these natural settings with my camera, even though my focus was primarily on wildlife, especially birds.

My time in Sri Lanka allowed me to immerse myself in nature and develop a better understanding of the island's ecological diversity. I was well prepared to take photographs in the sometimes-challenging environments, where high humidity poses an additional difficulty.
I would like to thank my wife Dorothe for her tireless support, as well as Ranga and Ashen for their energetic assistance, especially under the difficult conditions of high temperatures and oppressive humidity. A very special thank goes to Ashen, who made things much easier for me by carrying my camera backpack.
I've now published the results of my wildlife tour on my website under the "Nature Photography" section. You'll also find new images in the "Asia" section, documenting my impressions of the landscapes.
I invite everyone to explore the images and hope you enjoy browsing!
